Saint Raphael

What an adventure. For our free weekend Erica, John, Lizz, Wes and I took a roadtrip to Saint Raphael on the Mediterranean. It's a little town between Cannes and St. Tropez, or more precisely Frejus and Agay. We rented a car from Alamo..expecting a sweet french domestic and ended up with a Ford but it worked out pretty well. We split the 4 hour drive between Wes, Lizz and I which was an experience in its self. Apprently 90 MPH is too slow for Europeans. We were pretty much lost as hell when we arrived at Saint Raphael because we had no directions to our Auberge and somehow it just appeared, which was a miracle. Our hotel was very nice for 12 Euro a night, about 300 meters from the sea, a good french breakfast and very hospitable.

After 2 bottles of wine, 1 bottle of champagne and a case of beer we did some jellyfish hunting in our little cove, which was fun until someone had the bright idea to throw one back and BLAMMM, 3 seconds later Erica gets stung and the only remedy is urine....for the first time in my life, and one of the most awkard...a girl is screaming at me "Please pee on me, please pee on me....it hurt's so bad!!" And voila, the pain was gone. Thank goodness for the alcohol.

All weekend we'd been backing the car into our hotel's parking lot, and this is the aftermath afterLizz tried to switch things up and pull in headfirst with 5 people yelling NO NO NO STOP STOP YOU'RE GETTING TOO CLOSE...good thing we bought insurance
Discothèque...too much Disco, not enough Thèque

Chillin' on the beach at 3am

I don't know if you've seen The Transporter...but we had a very similar experience. We're waiting for our cab at 3 in the morning infront of the discotech, and to our surprise, a pimped out polished black BMW slams on the breaks infront of us with a hott hott blonde driving. She says to us "taxi?" and we get in. There is no fare-meter or anything...We talk a little bit...She drives like a bat-out-of-hell. Probably the most odd thing is that she had 5 different cell phones, half of which rang all at the same time.

Public Beach, German Shepherd Discrimination

American's shed such a bad light on the french and I really don't know why. I've only had good encounters with the people here. For example, we stopped at a gas station to pick up some liquor for the beach and the attendant offered us a free bottle of wine explaining, "We French don't forget what you Americans have done for us." And just down the road was an American memorial from WWII.
